![]() I think the 6am-11pm window is a good window, 24/7 would be better but i think the 16-17 hours ope is second best/second most convient. So i get why some stores aren’t 24 hours but they also do need to be open for longer, outside the typical 9-5 business hours. Then for kroger, they also took covid as an opportunity to go back to “normal” business hours and it was due mainly to safety, the store was in a relatively rural part of town, lots of drug addicts and violent homeless people would hide in the wooded areas by the store and would harm employees, opening the store to liabilities (which i laugh at after all the liabilities they opened themselves to when i worked there). I worked at 2 stores (mainly closing shifts) who used to be 24 hour store, 1 being walmart they took covid as an opportunity to go back to “normal” business hours 6am-11pm, and when asked my leads and mangers who worked there before, during, and after the change to 24 hours said that it cost the store money, not many people would shop past 10pm, then paying employees to work grave yard shifts, needing to hired more AP, and over night stock plus the cashiers working around each other caused issues (not sure how that last one did they didn’t specify), it was also a safety issue.
